Every year since 2019 I have taken a western Yoga teacher training. Over time my understanding of what yoga really is has shifted. Yet, I have nearly 1000hrs of training, a strong understanding of human anatomy, body focused strength training and flexibility methods. This troubled me because I was unsure how to teach the physical practices that I have learned without cultural appropriation. I have decided to advertise these as ”Movement classes” These will focus on training the body, building flexibility and strength to the body. At times this may seem like ”Yoga” and may be practiced on a yoga mat but it is not.
